Workshop on current research on crime

On October 2–3, Hans Grönqvist organized the second workshop in the project on crime initiated by the Swedish Research Council. Around 40 researchers gathered over two days to present and discuss current research on crime, identifying significant challenges for the future.

At the workshop, two keynote presentations were given. Christopher Uggen from the University of Minnesota spoke on the topic "From Crime to Punishment and Back Again," and Clemens Kroneberg from the University of Cologne presented research on whether the country of origin matters for whether an individual becomes a criminal. The title of the lecture was "The Long Arm of the Country of Origin? Evaluating the Cultural Baggage Hypothesis on Inter-Ethnic Differences in Youth Violence."
