Firms, Human Capital and Corporate Ownership

Ownership structure and ownership changes are central to the transformation needed to strengthen firm productivity and the competitiveness of the economy. The purpose of this project is to study the economics of corporate ownership: how different forms of ownership and control affect firms’ allocation of human capital, productivity and the careers of CEOs, managers, and employees.

The project uses Swedish registry data that track both firms and individuals over time. This allows for detailed analyses of how ownership structure and ownership transitions influence who works where, how human capital is allocated and developed within firms, and how these dynamics shape productivity, growth and careers.

Research areas include mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, private equity buyouts, public listings, and family ownership.
