Elin Colmsjö presented at the first Economic Opportunity European Conference

16 June 2026

On June 15, Elin Colmsjö participated in the Economic Opportunity European Conference, where she presented her research “A Flying Start: Intergenerational Transfers, Wealth Accumulation and Entrepreneurship of Descendants.” In the paper, Elin analyzes how parents’ financial support in the housing market contributes to their children’s long‑term wealth accumulation. The conference was hosted by Sciences Po in Paris and was the first of its kind in Europe.

About the conference: The conference was a joint initiative between the Department of Economics at Sciences Po in Paris, Opportunity Insights at Harvard University, and the Spanish Opportunity Lab. It opened with a keynote address by Raj Chetty.

The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers studying the determinants and consequences of economic mobility and inequality, broadly defined, as well as public policies related to these issues. We particularly encourage applications from researchers working in a European context, but we also welcome contributions examining other settings.
