Andreas Bergh commented on the ESO report Inspiration for integration of Patrick Joyce, Ratio, at a seminar in Rosenbad.
In the ESO report, Patrick Joyce states that in Sweden the difference in employment between domestic and foreign born is the highest in the OECD. To address this, he suggestes that asylum seekers be allowed to participate in establishment programs in anticipation of asylum and that language skills requirements should be introduced for permanent residence permit. He also suggested that the length of the establishment programs be made more flexible. Something like Ylva Johansson, Minister for Employment and Entrepreneurship, was in doubt as she commented on the proposal.

In the panel discussion participated (from left) Grete Brochmann, Professor of Sociology at the University of Oslo, Andreas Bergh, IFN, Hanna Moback, Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, Åre and Patrick Joyce, Researcher at Ratio. Moderator was ESO's chairman Hans Lindblad.
Grete Brochmann, professor of sociology at the University of Oslo, was asked if she could give an advice to Sweden what should be changed in terms of immigrant integration. Brochmann explained that Sweden should be less liberal in terms of permitting immigrants to settle anywhere and not the place they were referred to: The risk is, she explained, that they move to isolation and poverty.
