Konferensarrangörerna beskriver upplägget på följande vis:
"The conference is named a landmark one since the topic of sustainable finance will be approached in a visionary way which implies a crossing of borders to many academic disciplines. Hence this is not a traditional paper-based conference. The concept of sustainable finance will be addressed from mainly two angles. One – and maybe the most conventional one – where sustainable finance is thought to relate to climate and climate policy. Within this framework focus is the role of finance to prevent the emergency of climate catastrophes and what will follow for human beings as a result of pollution, higher temperature and flooding. The second interpretation of sustainable finance focus on how to create sustainable financial systems by the design of financial regulations, monetary and fiscal policy in order to create financial stability and to avoid - or at least reduce - the impact of financial crises.
In addition to a memory session devoted to professor Clas Wihlborg, the conference is organized in a number of panels. The first panel is special since it contains the keynote address. All the others follow the same pattern, i.e., each panel will have a chairperson, a presenter and three panellists of which one represents politics or business. The chairperson will get 5 minutes to express his or her view on the relevance of the topic. The presenter will have 15 minutes to put forward his/her ideas, each panellist will initially have 5 minutes each to comment the presentation and, finally, the remaining 20 minutes will be spent on a discussion involving all five on the panel as well as the audience. Each chairperson will have 55 minutes for his/her panel. In some panels, the presenter may hand out a written version of his/her view in advance.
The conference is generously sponsored by Centre for Finance at University of Gothenburg and University West."
