The deregulatory 1980s exhibits a dramatic increase in outward foreign direct investment (FDI) from a number of small countries outside the EC. Few studies have analyzed home country effects of outward foreign direct investment. In this empirically based article, we study changes in production patterns as expressed by domestic value added contributions of the core manufacturing companies in four Nordic countries.
