Magnus Henrekson completed his doctoral dissertation in 1990 at the University of Gothenburg. The dissertation dealt with empirical determinants of public sector growth. Apart from academic merits, he has experience in international banking (1981–83) and extensive involvement as an advisor, lecturer and board member both in the private industry and the public sector. Some of the questions Magnus Henrekson tries to answer in his research:
- The importance of institutions for growth, job creation, and prosperity?
- The tax impact on the willingness to start, run and expand a business?
- What makes ideas transform into innovations and flourishing companies?
- Why is it important to distinguish between self-employment and entrepreneurship?
