Fredrik Sjöholm has launched a series of research projects with a focus on how Sweden and the Swedish industry is affected by increased international trade and capital flows. The main area of his research is on the economic impacts of globalization, including a broad range of aspects of international trade and investments.
A common factor in much of this work is a focus on the role of multinational companies, and on home and host country effects of foreign direct investments. Economic development in East Asia is also something Fredrik Sjöholm has worked extensively on since the mid-1990s.
