Prices, margins and competition in the Food Market during times of uncertainty
Food prices and firm costs have increased drastically following the pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine, inducing intense debates and policy discussions. This project aims to examine how prices, costs, margins and competition are affected during periods of economic uncertainty. Drawing on the latest research literature, the project combines theory, advanced econometrics, innovative machine learning methods and unique, detailed data. The focus is on consumer demand, firms’ cost structures and the dynamics of competition. Funder: Swedish Competition Authority
