Previous research suggests that high-trust societies tend to write short constitutions. We document that this pattern is not specific to the entire constitution, but is equally reflected in the emergency provisions within the constitution. The chapter thus indicates that the constitutions of high-trust societies provide less detail, but do not cover fewer topics.
